Subject:Reiki Symbols – The Gift of Life Force
Security:Public
Mood: contemplative

There are two schools of thought about Reiki symbols. The first says that Reiki symbols are sacred and not to be shared with those who are not initiated into Reiki. It is thought the Reiki symbols will not work, and will be diluted if they are shared with someone who has no knowledge of how to use them. The second school of thought is sharing the Reiki symbols with everyone is really what the energy of Reiki is all about – UNIVERSAL life force. And thus, it should be available to all to share. Seems there is no right or wrong here, just which school of thought you subscribe to, or what your Reiki training has been.

There are still some old Reiki masters who will tell you right off the bat that the Reiki symbols are not to be shared with just anyone, as it takes away from the power of them. There may be sense in this argument if you stop to think about the Reiki symbols themselves. They don't mean anything to someone who has no idea what they are or what they can achieve with them. On the other hand, there are so many self-help books on the subject of Reiki and using the Reiki symbols that you might think you can learn how to do Reiki through using a book and teaching yourself.

If the books dealing with Reiki symbols are to be believed, you should not only be able to learn the symbols, but attune yourself and become whatever level of practitioner you wish. While this sounds simple, there really is a whole lot more to it than just reading a book. Particularly when you get more advanced in levels.

Without getting into too much about the symbols, as in drawing them, we can certainly tell you the names of the symbols used for the lower levels of Reiki energy channeling. If you are just starting, the first level of Reiki requires no symbols to work. It does however need an attunement from the Reiki master who is training you. Level 2 symbols need to be given to you by the Reiki master along with an attunement to the second level. Self-help books indicate you can do attunements yourself. That is still a highly controversial level and a word of caution here. Do energy work with respect and caution.

But, back to the Level 2 symbols. There are three of them – the Power symbol, the Mental/Emotional Symbol and the Distance Symbol. The Power symbol means "by Imperial decree, put all the power of the universe here". The Mental/Emotional Symbol means "God and humanity become one, to create a new habit". The Distance Symbol means "May the Buddha (enlightened one) in me connect with the Buddha in you to promote peace and dignity."

Subject:The Leading Facts about Reiki Healing
Security:Public
Mood: calm

If you have the fair interest in knowing Reiki and how it is practiced, the best thing to start with is that of getting familiar with the healing procedure. Reiki imparts the knowledge on how the present life can be lived to the fullest and to let go of all the worries and stress. It is necessary to put away the concerns that bother the mind, the spirit, and the body because it is the only way on how a full life can be enjoyed. Reiki healing employs the force that opens the doors in our lives towards the most unexpected and positive things that can occur. As soon as we allow our hearts, minds, and spirits to open up to the wonders of its healing procedure, we can start to live in harmony with the rest of our brothers and sisters.

The Healing and the Healer
As per the believers of Reiki, they manifest the techniques as they abide by the Divine consecration and the sacred covenant that they share with the Creator. Others even have the faith that the ability to heal themselves and others by means of using Reiki is innate. The technique is both a therapy and a way of allowing one to live the present day at a given moment. The healing ability is empowered as the person decides to accept his responsibility in getting attuned to it. Apart from acting as a form of treatment, it is also a lifestyle that encourages an individual to do good deeds in their entire lifetime.

The Early Beginnings
The methods of healing through Reiki is said to have been rooted from the age old Tibet and was actually rediscovered by no less than a Japanese man by the name Mikao Usui in the latter part of the 1800s. When Mikao Usui died, his loyal followers took over the responsibility and continued the practice. They established clubs and alliances which still exist to this day to teach the variations of the Reiki method. The teaching is basically based on the learner's level of spiritual maturity. In the early times, the club was exclusively for the Japanese so the foreigners were never allowed to partake in the course. However, one Japanese woman by the name Hawayo Takata introduced the same teachings in the western world in the 1970s. Nowadays, the knowledge on Reiki is known to all parts of the world.

Using Reiki Methodology
If there are some people who question the efficacy of Reiki, it is but necessary to believe that it truly works. The person has to be simply open to accept the healing energy which is always around. You don't necessarily have to feel anything during the healing process. If one fails to receive the energy, it means that the process is obstructed by the imbalanced chakras. In order to fully enjoy its effect, it has to be rebalanced. It may take a while but with the help of other Reiki healers, the process of recovery can be made faster.

It is but important to do the Reiki healing procedure with all of your heart and mind. Your action has to be driven by your greatest emotion called love. It is by opening yourself up to the whole process that you will only be able to receive its rewarding effect. Good deeds are also going to be returned to you.

The Purpose of Reiki Healing

Reiki healing has been in continuing practice for several years now. It is recognized to be a great tool that is aimed at personal treatment and growth. Reiki energy is rooted from an optimal spiritual source which never fails to come up with the best results. The healing applies for the spirit, the mind, and the body which has to serve as the guide in an individual's journey called life. Reiki likewise aids in the enhancement of the personal talents. Of course, all of these can only materialize if you prefer to get attuned to this sacred practice. There exists a sacred covenant that has to be maintained and nurtured for always.

Learning the Program of Self-Healing

For you to be able to acquire the depth of the knowledge on Reiki's self-healing process, you must develop a sensible time for practice. You need to master different techniques. The way on how you execute it will move you forward near your goal or pull you away from your desired aim. In the course of self-healing, the appropriate technique must be used and thus should be learned by you. If you are qualified enough to do so, you may choose to develop your own healing system which will work to your advantage. If you have your spirit, mind, and heart into Reiki, you will surely succeed.

The Allotted Time for Self-Healing

The Reiki system of self-healing is best done by regularly allotting at least 30 minutes to yourself. It is time that you realize how important it is to value yourself and therefore spend some time for your complete healing. You may use either the scanning or hand positions as your technique. Your focus should be on those regions that require healing the most. As the session begins, you will be carefully guided as to where your hands should go and which body part should you touch. You have to feel everything that you are doing. Let the energy flow and feel it vibrating. While the session is going on, ponder on your daily activities and where your life is heading. It is by means of thinking over your practice in life will your quest for self-healing produce a great impact. This is a kind of technique that promotes the development of a healthy attitude. More so, this self-reflection technique will similarly give you more room for the generation of very creative ideas and ways on how it will be best to handle your own troubles.

Self-Healing in Groups

Again, Reiki treatment can be administered to yourself or to others. Hence, you may form a special group with the rest of the Reiki self-healers whom you know and do the session altogether. This practice is a lot more effective because you don't only get to heal yourself but the rest of your group mates as well. A daily practice can do wonders. You will heal each other faster. The complete healing is also sure to materialize. The secret to it is the sharing of energy and support as the group gets on with the session.

Being in a group will give you the opportunity to discuss among yourselves the things that you want to get healed with. A once a week meeting will generate a more serious focus and a deeper purpose in each and every one of you. Let the prayers guide you through as you convene in the Reiki healing practice.

Researchers at Princeton University suggest that consciousness (the mind) can influence the behavior of physical devices known as random event generators.
Maybe some of you have heard about the Mind Lamp - http://www.mind-lamp.com/mind-lamp-research.php - or even have one.
Now there's an LJ community to discuss your experience and thoughts, and to create a software implementation: http://community.livejournal.com/mindlamp

Other software and hardware instruments for the mind-matter interaction research are also welcome.
Those who enjoy computer programming are especially welcome!

Hey, I'm Gemma.
I'm only 13 years old, but I've had a lot of paranormal experiences I've wanted to share with people that would understand.

For as long as I can remember, there has been a figure of an old woman in my room. My mum and my friends thought I was imagining things and as much a I tried to ignore it she was still there.
She wasn't the first ghost I'd ever seen, but she was the only one that had stuck around.
She first appeared when I was about 3. She's been in there for the past 10 years and I can't understand why.

My mum got a psychic in one night and had a few friends round. She was amazing, she got everything right about everyone. But, when it was my mum's turn she couldn't think about anything. She just told my mu to fetch me. She told me that she'd never felt the need to call a child in before and that I was the first. She told me that it was okay and I wasn't going mad and that I can tell when something is going to happen, which I can.

I told my mum that she was going to see her friend in Asda the other day, and she did. I know it's not the most exciting thing I could have predicted, but I was right

The most recent thing was in PE, when I started talking to my friend about what would happen to our stuff in the changing rooms if the school was on fire, then the alarm went off. Only for a split second, but it still went off.

Thanks for reading, just thought I'd share.

Hey all :) Since there seem to be a lot of sensitives around this comm, I'd like your opinion on something.

The last few months, I and several other intuitives have worked very hard on setting up an online school where people can take (free) courses of a few months to learn about the meta-intuitive, how they can start using their own intuition more reliably, how they can work with energy and increase their awareness.

So far, we're on our third group of students, and many of them are reporting that they are feeling healthier, have less problems in their personal lives and are taking much more control over their own life. Dealing with stress is easier, and they're beginning to really deal with all the issues that are holding them back. They're also doing their fair share of really amazing intuitive work.

What I'm wondering is what people who are interested in learning these things are looking for specifically. What are the problems with the meta-physical you run into most often, what areas would you wish there was more info about, what are you curious about but dont know where to ask?

Also, if you were to receive healing/energy work from an intuitive, what would you expect, and what results would you want the most?

I'm trying to determine what topics people would most want us to teach them, and in what order. Are people more interested in learning to sense ghosts and other entities and dealing with them, or would you prefer to learn how to ground and shield properly? Do you want to stop people from stealing your energy, or do you want to know why the world has been changing so much lately? Do you want to be able to tell if someone's lying, or do you want to find ways to deal with anger and fear, or clear up your energy blocks and make your chakras work smoothly, or do you want to learn how to develop your empathy and handle the emotional overload coming from it?

If anyone's curious, www.elfpath.com

I'd be grateful for any insight any of you can offer! Also, I'd love to get in touch with others who are working on similar things, as I firmly believe we can all learn so much from each other, and there's no reason for any of us to struggle through problems alone.

hello, everyone!

since around march or april, i've been having some very heavy experiences. i feel like my whole consciousness has been completely shifted. i'm experiencing life on a whole different level.

to give you a little background: psychic abilities of all forms have run on my paternal grandmother's side for ages. my great-grandmother was almost entirely deaf towards the end of her life, yet she could hold conversations perfectly. she knew what people were saying on the other side of the room. my grandmother was able to do automatic-writing. my father, well.. he is a very enlightened person generally, but has had some wild experiences that few would ever have. he is very gifted. i've always envied him.

anyway, i have been pumped with psych meds since i was a tween. i'm 23 now. i am coming out of my zombie state, now that i am finally seeing what the chemicals have been doing to me. in fact, i believe they were making me crazy, instead of me being crazy to begin with. i have always been different i guess.

basically, i'm being flooded with other people's grief and mourning that it's almost as if i'm the one who has experienced the loss personally. the first time was a weird situation and i'm not comfortable going into detail about it, because i'm still being affected by it and it's just really really weird anyway. but i wanted to just say that it has opened up other cans of worms, so to speak, of me feeling the sadness and horrible feelings other people are having, but not all the time. it is happening sporadically. i'm not that 'developed', if it's anything that will actually develop at all.

i'm going to have to wrap this up now, i'm sorry! but i suppose i wanted to read what your opinions are. do you think i may be an empath? or something else? or just crazy? (anyone? anyone? bueller?)

i'm researching it but i'd like to hear from people who have been there.

thanks so much in advance.

Hey all :)

My name's Kally, I'm 17 years old and I live in QLD, Australia.

I don't really know what I am, though my heart's mother tells me I'm spirit sensitive.

It started when I was young; knowing things were going to happen before they did, feeling the moods of peoples and thoughts around me etc..
I remember clear as day when I was about 6 and my biological mother couldn't get a hold of her great-Aunt. I bounced into the room, crawled into her lap and announced "Auntie May-May is in heaven".

My mum shushed me and told me she was probably just out shopping. Sure enough Aunt May had died of a heart attack that morning.

As I got older my gifts grew. I sense spirits and well, I know when someone is sick/going to die. I've come to hate that part of me and I know it's wrong to but to feel the death and sickness lurking around someone long before they even feel it in their bodies? It's hard. Especially when it concerns those you love.

With knowing things are going to happen; it's not like a premonition but more I just know. Like someone has told me before and just in that moment I'm remembering.

I've also struggled growing up with not only having no family or loving support but I also have memories of lives that aren't mine. I'll remember histories from eras that ended centuries ago. Especially the American pioneer years. I also seem to know small amounts of Latin without ever learning it.

It's hard to discover who you are in this moment when you've lived before. I also find it difficult when people call me young, because I'm not.
I remember talking to my grandmother and calling her 'my child' because I've seen many more days than she ever will.

So um, what would you guys call me?

I've always thought I was an empath as I'm good at reading people and feeling them but most people just tell me I'm warm-hearted and sensitive.

Also, can anyone recommend any good books that would apply to me? I feel as though I'm in the dark.

Many thanks,
Kally ♥

Edit: I've cross-posted this to a few places because I'm really needing some answers. I'm sorry if that's not okay.

So I posted here a while back, but I think I came across the wrong way. I'm not looking to sell anything, just your feedback.

What's the consensus? A card divination process that combines tarot cards with a ouija board?

Can these cards really deliver messages from those on the other side?

If you're interested in the Vampirism & Energy Work Research Study (VEWRS/AVEWRS), sanguinarian and/or psychic vampirism, or the vampire community in general you will want to purchase a copy of this book.  There hasn't been anything quite like this published before... a very different kind of text/approach than that of Ramsland, Guiley, Guinn, and others.

The academic and sociological significance of this work can't be underscored enough.  Laycock offers a sweeping scholarly examination of the vampire community and the process of self-identification as a vampire.  He counters many of the negative stereotypes of the vampire community and posits thought-provoking arguments regarding ontological diversity.  I strongly encourage everyone to obtain a copy of this book and link to it as a resource for vampirism and the vampire community.

Inside Cover:

Vampires are not just the stuff of folklore and fiction. This book explores the modern world of vampirism in all its variety.

Around the globe, untold numbers of people are identifying as "vampires" and following the ways of "vampirism."  But what does it mean to be a vampire?  Is vampirism a religion? Is it a fantasy? Is it a medical condition?  Based upon extensive interviews with members of the Atlanta Vampire Alliance and others within vampire communities throughout the United States, Vampires Today looks at the many expressions of vampirism.

In the past two decades, modern vampirism has come under increased study, yet most scholarship has portrayed the vampire community as a cultural phenomenon or, at worst, as a religious cult. Having interviewed many vampires across the country, both "lifestylers" and "real," even those "reluctants" who try not to be vampires, Laycock argues that today's vampires are best understood as an identity group and that vampirism has caused a profound change in how individuals choose to define themselves. As vampires come "out of the closet," either as followers of a "religion" or "lifestyle" or as people biologically distinct from other humans, their confrontation with mainstream society will raise questions about the definition of "normal" and what it means to be human.

In this book, readers will meet "lifestyle vampires," who adopt a culture and a gothic ascetic associated with the vampires of art and legend.  They will be introduced to "real" vampires, who feel that they must actually consume blood and/or psychic energy for their well being.  They will hear from members of the Atlanta Vampire Alliance, and they will learn about the Order of the Vampyre, the Ordo Strigoi Vii, and the Temple of the Vampire.

There is no doubt that anyone who reads this book will find the details of real vampire life--including vampire role-playing games, grimoires, "vampyre" balls, vampire houses like House Sahjaza and House Kheperu, the vampire "caste" system, and other details--utterly fascinating.

Additional Notes:  The author holds a Masters of Divinity from Harvard University, a recipient of a grant from the Pluralism Project, and currently enrolled in the Division of Religious and Theological Studies at Boston University where he's working on his PhD.  He has presented on the topic of vampirism at the American Academy of Religion Conference in San Diego where he argued that "vampirism" should not be classified as a new religious movement (NRM) and to faculty at the University of Michigan and other institutional bodies on the sociological and emergent scientific aspects of vampirism.  He will be delivering a paper on Otherkin in August (2009) at the Association for the Sociology of Religion's annual conference in San Francisco, CA.  Laycock is well versed in the structure of the vampire community, has interviewed many individuals from diverse paths, and attended multiple gatherings.

I decided to create this community where I can write about the freaky beyond-normal [para-normal] stuff in my life, but also with the hopes that others who experience any kind of mystical phenomena will join and share as well....

mystical_energy  is a tolerant place where we can share & discuss experiences of anything paranormal-

anomalous phenomena, astral projections, entities, out-of-body-experiences, premonitory dreams, sleep paralysis, synchronicities, unusual conscious perceptionvisions.

I need to think up ideas for the name of my future hypnosis/hypnotherapy practice. I am hoping that some of you might have some good ones. Throw 'em at me.

I want to evoke success, comfort, improvement, change, confidence, performance, mind-expansion, intelligence, forward thinking, honesty, etc, etc, without sounding too far-out or aggressive. I like words such as "perception" and "enhancement," and am a fan of William Blake and Aldous Huxley, and the idea of "The Doors of Perception." Either way, I want to attract both the timid first-timers and the gung-ho hypnoenthusiasts.

I thought about something with "diamond" in the title because it evokes lucidity, such as "Diamond Mind," etc., but that is taken by some stupid baseball video game company. And anyway, Diamond Mind Hypnosis evokes drugs, as "diamonds" is a meth slang term from the 70s, plus, it borders on the corny unless I am just being too judgemental. So that's out.

Any thoughts?

Apologies for running this advert a second time, but I'm still looking for lots of participants for this study! This in genuine research and is not intended as spam.(Just a note for people kind enough to have done this study before - it's only possible to do it once, but please pass the info on to friends! Thanks).

If you enjoy answering questionnaires, please consider taking part in a study of paranormal, religious, and spiritual experiences, being carried out online by researchers at the Experimental Psychology department of the University of Bristol, UK.

If you have had one or more paranormal/supernatural, religious, or spiritual experiences (no matter how small or unexciting!) in your life, and you are over 16, you are eligible to take part. You don't necessarily have to be spiritual or religious, just to have had an experience that isn't easily explained by current science!

The study involves filling in questionnaires at your leisure online, and takes less than 30 minutes in total. The study is *completely anonymous*. Not even your email address is required! If you take part, *please* complete a consent form and *all three* questionnaire forms (so four in total, see links below for more info) and answer all the questions.

If you are interested in taking part in this study, which is fully endorsed by the University of Bristol's Ethics in Human Research Committee, please click one of the following links:

This is the last reminder we will be sending out to remind you to complete the VEWRS & AVEWRS research surveys ahead of our Oct. 31st deadlineIn 4 days time we will no longer be accepting survey submissions - your responses are more valuable than you may realize!  Therefore, please sit down in the next couple days and complete at least the VEWRS survey and/or encourage others you know to do the same.  If you have any questions feel free to e-mail us at:  research@suscitatio.com

If the research study located at the web site listed below personally resonates with you or you wish to be a part of a control group (those who do not personally identify with the focus groups or phenomena outlined in this study), please take a moment over the next few hours or days to sit down and complete the VEWRS and AVEWRS research surveys and submit to us via e-mail.  These surveys cover a diversity of topics including but not limited to:  psychic and sanguinarian vampirism, energy work and manipulation, paranormal activities, psi-related experiences, magick, occult, spirituality, therianthropy, otherkin, and awakenings (you do NOT have to identify with modern vampirism to participate in this study).  Any information contained within the surveys that aren’t applicable feel free to choose “Not Applicable” or leave blank when this choice is not given.  The AVEWRS (Part 2) covers the topics outlined above in considerable more detail than the VEWRS (Part 1), therefore, if possible please complete both surveys (in order); submitting individually as they are completed.  If you have any questions (please read the FAQ first) we’re available to answer them via the e-mail address given below.  We thank you for your participation and support of this important research study!
